What a Coursing Ability Test is
A Coursing Ability Test, or CAT, asks one question: will the dog chase. A lure of white plastic bags runs along a continuous line staked around a field, and the dog chases it off lead from start to finish. Every breed can enter, not only the sighthounds the sport grew out of.
The club runs coursing events in spring and fall.
Passing a run
A CAT is scored pass or fail, and dogs are not raced against each other. To qualify, the dog has to run the course with enthusiasm, without stopping or being distracted, and finish inside the time limit.

Each qualifying run counts as one leg toward the next title.

Come and see it in person
You do not have to enter to turn up. Spectators are welcome at everything the club runs, and it is the quickest way to work out whether a sport suits your dog. Members get involved in running the events themselves.
