What a run looks like
Fast CAT is a timed 100-yard dash. One dog runs at a time, chasing a lure down a straight line staked along the middle of a field. Most dogs are over the finish in under ten seconds.
Any AKC-registered or PAL-listed dog can enter. The club holds two Fast CAT weekends a year, one in spring and one in fall. Spectators are welcome.
How the scoring works
Timers record how long the dog takes to cover the 100 yards, and that time converts to miles per hour. A handicap based on the dog’s height at the withers multiplies the MPH to give the points for that run, so small dogs and large dogs both earn points at their own pace.

Points = MPH × handicap. A 15-inch dog that runs 20 MPH earns 30 points for the run (20 × 1.5).

Come and see it in person
You do not have to enter to turn up. Spectators are welcome at everything the club runs, and it is the quickest way to work out whether a sport suits your dog. Members get involved in running the events themselves.
